1. New Year’s festival “North light”

In the center of Saint Petersburg on Malaya Konushennaya street during the month there will be a New Year festival “North light” where you can buy several souvenirs and soak into the New Year’s atmosphere of magic.

2. New year and Christmas fair on Elaghin island

Central park of culture and rest on Elaghin Island will do a New Year and Christmas fair from December 16th. Here you may find the open-air entertainments, an ice rink and much more. Everyone will have an opportunity to visit the fair because it is only closed to the end of January.

3. Winter festival at Moskovskaya square

There will be a grand winter festival on Moskovskaya square. For all inhabitants and guests of the city there will be show programs, ice sculptures’ park, icerink, winter attractions and Christmas fair. In the same place from December 24th to January 8th there will be also a “Russia – winter traceries” ethnographic program that allows to learn all the traditions of our ancestry and several nations of our country. A special event of the “Ethno Park” will be a festival of Santa Clauses of Russia. Here the winter wizards from several nations of our country will meet each other.

4. Laser show on Palace square

 From December 25th to January 7th there will be a laser show on palace square. The show is an incredible, breathtaking performance being demonstrated on one of the oldest building in Saint-Petersburg – the General staff on the central square. The light show 2017 on Palace square is definitely the main event of the New Year holidays with its immensity and spectacularity.

5. Ice sculptures exhibition - “Snowy city”

The ice sculptures festival has already been opening on the Peter and Paul Fortress’s area for 10 years. This year the festival starts on December 26th and it will be opened until March 2017. There will be the famous characters from the fairytales and cartoons and an ice city with a symbol of the coming year – a big ice cockerel.

6. New Year aqua show “Recipe of magic”

Olympic champions Maria Kiseleva and Olga Kuzhela have been presenting a New Year program “Recipe of magic” for 6 years. This year there will be the awesome performances of the stars of synchronized swimming, plunger’s tricks, aerialists, theatre and circus artists.

7. New Year saxophone show

On December 31st, in New Year’s eve, in the Georgian hall of Mikhailovsky Castle there will be a concert headed by a fabulous maestro Federico Mondelci. Thirteen Italian saxophone virtuosos will perform the best and the most popular hits of all time – jazz, folkloric, rock and classic.

New Year Eve in Saint Petersburg should be memorable!

8. New Year on Palace square

Palace square is a traditional place to celebrate New Year in Saint-Petersburg. As in the previous years, here will be the main Christmas tree of the city and an ice rink. On December 31st at 10PM there will be a performance from the famous artists, several dance crews and also a fair and President’s speech! In 2017 in Saint-Petersburg you may see a grand light show on the screen stretched on the Exchange building. The guests of the city will have an opportunity to see an awesome firework!

9. Show – fairytale “the Nutcracker”

From January 2nd to January 7th 2017 in Saint-Petersburg’s Ice Palace will be a unique ice show, “the Nutcracker”. This show-fairytale is for all family, from baby to adult. A sponsor of the show is a figure skating star – Evgeny Pluschenko. It is expected to be the most spectacular show not only in Europe but in the world! The show has been created based on “the Nutcracker and the Mouse King” fairytale by German romantic novelist E.T.A. Hoffmann with P.I. Chaikovsky’s music. As the ice performance’s actors there will be the iconic figure-skaters who are the participants and the winners of the championships of different level.
